I’m Emma and thank you for visiting the Fluff Shack dog grooming page.

We are an experienced dog grooming salon, based in Ralston, we are close to the Glasgow boundary and local to Paisley, Penilee, Cardonald, Crookston, Hillington and surrounding areas. When you visit us, you will be greeted by myself, my husband Tom and the face of the business our Cavapoo Lady.

I know how important dogs are to us; they are our friends and part of the family. So, in order for you to trust me with your pooches, I thought it would be appropriate you should know about myself and the business first.

In the beginning

I started grooming years ago when I made the mistake of not taking my late Cavalier Daisy to the groomers when she was a puppy. When I did eventually take her, she would become stressed with the hustle and bustle of the environment, so I bought some budget tools and began grooming her myself, I really enjoyed making her feel comfortable.
Over the years I have been grooming as a hobby and then Lady came along with her fluffy high maintenance coat, I realised I wanted to learn more about dog grooming. I felt it was finally the right time in my life to change my career and do something I had always wanted to, this is what led me to pursue professional training.

Training 

At this moment, the dog grooming industry isn’t regulated. I was conscious that this could change at any time to protect the welfare of animals. Most people start grooming as hobby or learn on the job, then go on to train, some don’t and it is a personal choice. After researching, I had realised there is so much more to grooming than just giving a dog a haircut. A groomer must be confident in the health and safety of the dog; understand the dog’s anatomy, body language and behaviour, and be skilled in the use of clippers, scissors and the many other tools involved. There also must be procedures in place to care on a daily basis for our furry friends. Personally, I wanted the confidence and being fully qualified and certified in first aid was my main priority before starting professionally.

The Salon

Our salon will provide all of the above, and more. I work with one dog at a time while giving them a luxurious pamper experience. We use the latest high-quality equipment and natural, cruelty-free shampoos and treatments. I myself suffer from many allergies, so this has meant an additional consciousness of the dogs I am treating. If a product is harmful to humans, it can be harmful for dogs too. I want to give you a positive experience, but most importantly I want your dog to feel at ease, look great so that they will return wagging their tails!
